What is a Water Boil Advisory and who issues an advisory?

During a boil water advisory, you should use bottled water or boil tap water. This is because a boil water advisory means your community’s water could have or has germs that could make you sick.  In Sedalia, the City's Water Division or Pettis County Health Center can issue Water Boil Advisories.

During a Water Boil Advisory, a resident will want to use bottled or boiled water for drinking, and to prepare and cook food. If bottled water is not available, bring water to a full rolling boil for a minimum of 1 minute. After boiling, allow the water to cool before use.
